It is only in recent times that illness has been viewed purely as a function of the body. At the beginnings of medicine, healers defined illness not in terms of pathology, but in terms of the soul. A growing body of clinical research is encouraging many to return to this older wisdom, demonstrating that our innate ability to heal is deeply intertwined with a fundamental human desire for meaning, purpose and fulfillment.
At Harmony Hill, we hope to help people expand their concept of health to include mental, emotional, and spiritual wellness as well as the physical. To that end we provide retreats that are designed to help people improve their ability to maintain or improve their well-being on all of those fronts.
Three-Day Program Our three-day Cancer Retreats are specifically designed to help those with a cancer diagnosis cope with the emotional, mental and spiritual challenges associated with their diagnosis in a setting of nurturing attention, support and gentle humor.
One-Day Programs In addition to our weekend cancer retreats, we offer Tools for the Journey: Living with Cancer, a one-day workshop.
For those who have already attended a Harmony Hill cancer retreat or "Tools" workshop, we offer Thriving beyond Cancer, a series of one-day programs. Other cancer survivors may also attend programs in this series subject to space availability.
Caregiver Program We are also offering programs for cancer caregivers, offering tools and support for those who are providing care for a family member or other loved one.
Our Moving in Harmony Retreats, Ann Lovejoy workshops, and labyrinth retreats give individuals a chance to explore different approaches to wellness. These one-day programs, open to everyone, focus on using the labyrinth, yoga, and other forms of movement, particularly as they relate to wellness and restoration.
Our new weekday Yoga Classes are a great way to learn yoga or practice with a trained instructor. Open to drop-ins, these one-hour sessions are held on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
Last, through our Personal Retreats, individuals attending other events at Harmony Hill have the opportunity to extend their stay and enjoy the Hills labyrinths, gardens, walking paths, and views, and have extra time for personal reflection and quiet.
